How long recordings are kept
Hosted recordings are kept for a set time that depends on the organization. Here is what happens when one expires.
Hosting periods
Recordings in a Personal space are hosted for 14 days. Recordings in a team organization are hosted for longer, depending on its plan. The original file stays on the Mac that recorded it until you delete it there.
A week before a recording expires, its owner gets an email and an Inbox notice.
When a recording expires
The player is replaced by This video has expired. Comments, the transcript, chapters and related recordings stay, so the discussion is still there to read, and Ask can still answer questions about them. Nobody can add comments or edit the transcript. The title and tags still show, but you can no longer change its visibility or tags, and Configure video and Edit in Studio are gone. In Videos, the recording shows an Expired badge.
A banner above the title says when the transcript, comments and chapters will be deleted: 30 days after the video expired. Copy anything you want to keep, such as feedback from others, before then.
