Save a full-size frame

Save the frame on screen as a full-size PNG to mark up, put in a slide deck or use in a guide.

Save the frame on screen

  1. Pause the recording on the moment you want, or leave it playing.
  2. At the top left of the video, click Save a full-size frame (the camera with a flash). Move the pointer over the video if you do not see it.
  3. Choose where to save the image and click Save.

Shoyu names the file after the recording’s author, its title and the time in the video, such as sam-carter-checkout-redesign-01m23s.png. You can change the name before you save.

Chrome and Edge ask where to save. Safari and Firefox put the image in your downloads, unless you set them to ask.

What the image shows

The image is the recorded frame at the highest quality Shoyu streams, whatever the size of your player or your connection. It does not wait for the player to sharpen, so you can save the moment you see.

It shows the screen as it was recorded. Studio changes such as Frame, Focus, Markup and captions are not part of the image.

If you do not see the button

  • The recording’s owner turned Frame snapshots off in Playback settings › Playback.
  • Your organization’s owners and admins turned Frame snapshots off in recording policy.
  • The player is floating in a corner. Scroll back up to the video.
  • Your browser cannot decode video frames. Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox.

If Shoyu says Could not save this frame. Try again., reload the page and try once more.

Turn Frame snapshots off for a recording

The recording’s owner, and the organization’s owners and admins, can turn them off.

  1. On the Playback page, click Configure video.
  2. Open the Playback tab.
  3. Switch off Frame snapshots. The change saves straight away.
